RÉSUMÉ
La ville minière de Val-d’Or est une municipalité québécoise vieille d’un siècle qui, malgré ses richesses, ne parvient pas à générer des taux de scolarité attendus des milieux aussi favorisés. Les faibles taux de diplomation précèdent l’importante délinquance. En étudiant le rapport à l’école des futurs mineurs, nous comprendrons s’il y a reproduction des inégalités sociales ou non et s’il y a égalité des chances. Nous décrirons les mécanismes sociaux dans l’industrie minière de Val-d’Or et leur interaction avec la mobilité sociale.

ABSTRACT
The mining town of Val-d’Or is a hundred-year-old Quebec municipality, which, however rich it might be, does not generate successful schooling rates to the expected level of such a favored community. The low high-school graduation rates precede significant delinquency. By studying the relationship with school of the future minors, we will understand if there are phenomena leading to the reproduction of social inequalities or not and if the schooling system provides equal opportunities for everybody regarding obtaining a higher education. We will describe the social mechanisms in the mining industry in Val-d’Or and their interaction with social mobility.
